Total Immersion Swim Coaching
James's technique-focussed swim coaching and video analysis sessions take place in 25m pools Chichester, West Sussex and Petersfield, Hampshire and London Bridge.
James will help you build a more efficient stroke by building on the things you are already doing well. Efficient freestyle starts with good natural balance in the water, maintaining a good streamlined profile and learning to relax.
The first 90 minute intro session involves comprehensive video analysis where he films you from above and below the water from multiple angles or to assess your stroke. You look at the video poolside together and identify key areas for improvement.
He will help you make a plan to implement these improvements in order of priority.
Subsequent sessions also involve video analysis but are more focussed on specific areas of your stroke.
The video is also sent to you to view with voice and analysis and graphic notation via Dropbox so you can review it in your own time.
"How many sessions do I need"? An almost imporssble question to answer.
Swimming sessions are no 'quick fix' and require good practise in between sessions. Like improving any new skill, be it playing a musical instrument, martial art or new golf swing, it's rare that one session is enough unless you want to simply have some thorough video analysis and go away and work on your stroke on your own.
As a rule of thumb proficient swimmers who may be struggling with certain issues or who are finding swimming hard work and are lacking efficiency in the water usually need a an intial batch of about six sessions after the initial assessment. You plan these together at increased gaps according to the areas ideintified most in need of improvement to fit in with your own commitments and frequency of practise.
Clients nearer the beginning of their swimming jounrneys will usually need a series of twelve sessions or more.
Once you've reached a certain level of proficiency, James will invite you to join one of his monthly Two Beat Kick club technique focussed sessions the last Sunday of every month where you can work on imprving your stroke and meet with other like-minded swimmers.
